Healthy and strong skin – your most important meeting point

Health above all

There are many ways and many levels at which we can act to maintain, improve or restore our health.

Which of these paths we choose depends on our overall condition as well as on our preferences or aversions. Someone is more ready to deal with nutrition, someone with sports, someone with mental work.

There is no one right path for all of us. Everyone is on their own path to their individual, ideal health and well-being.

In the next series, HEALTH FIRST, I will talk about small changes that we can all implement, which are simple and understandable, accessible to everyone, and which work wonders for our health.

The first in the series is SKIN care..

The importance of skin

The skin is your largest organ and the first line of defense against external influences. It is a meeting place with the world, a boundary that protects the inside of the body.

Skin, seen from the psychosomatic point of view, symbolizes boundaries, protection, contact and communication. It reflects your inner state and experiences.

By the appearance and quality of the skin, we can conclude a lot about the state of health, but also about the life of the person we are observing. The first look and encounter, observation, are important aspects of my work as a health, holistic counselor.

Steps to maintain healthy and strong skin

Use simple products: Replace gels and baths with complicated ingredients with simple solutions. Aggressive chemistry dries out and weakens the skin, especially in babies and young children.

Make sure that most of the cosmetics are organic and not chemical.

Proper washing: Rinse your body with water, you are certainly not ‘dirty’ if you shower regularly. For armpit, genital and foot points, use soaps without saponins, made from natural ingredients.

There are more and more natural cosmetics on the market, as well as these soaps. In addition, they are practical for traveling because they will certainly not spill.

Avoiding chemicals: For people prone to skin allergies, avoid products loaded with chemicals. If the list of ingredients is miles long, with many unknown chemical terms, stay away from them. Follow the principle, ‘less is more’.

In any case, cosmetics should be without too many artificial perfumes, parabens and silicones.

Natural skin care

Natural peels: Instead of expensive chemical peels, use simple natural ingredients. Mix granulated sugar with olive oil and rub into damp skin. The skin will be soft and nourished. Espresso coffee grounds are great for thighs as they help reduce cellulite.

Dry brushing: Speed up circulation and lymphatic drainage by dry brushing the body with a brush made of natural fibers several times a week, and the best is daily.

This helps detoxification and gives a sense of vitality, restores elasticity to the skin, softens the appearance of orange peel, and leaves the skin soft and supple.

You can find shower brushes that can be removed from the handle at any drugstore. It is only important that the hairs are not too soft but also not too hard.

After showering

Natural oils: After showering, natural oils that are rubbed into damp skin are best. They do not leave a greasy film and are quickly absorbed. Coconut oil smells exotic and absorbs well, leaving no greasy film on the skin. Another favorite of mine is sesame oil, which balances the doshas;

Jojoba oil especially for demanding, very dry skin.

Summer protection

Sun protection: Avoid carcinogenic chemical filters. You can find a list of sunscreen ingredients to avoid on the internet. Physical filters are better, although, sometimes, they leave a white mark.

Natural cosmetics with a lower protection factor can also be effective, while avoiding long exposure to direct sunlight in the period from 11 am to 4 pm.

Protection in the form of parasols, wide-brimmed hats, long-sleeved clothing and pants made of breathable materials is also an important part of protection from direct sunlight.

Hydration and vitamins

Hydration: 2 liters of pure spring or filtered water per day is the minimum that should be consumed. In summer or with increased sweating even more. If you have the conditions and buy water, it is better in glass packaging.

Water from city water supply systems is generally not of adequate composition and has a lot of chemical compound residues, is chlorinated and is not always tasty. I recommend jugs for filtering water or installing a filter on the faucet as an adequate alternative.

For those of you who filter water, the filter in the purification jug or on the tap, be sure to change the filter regularly so that it does not become counterproductive.

Find out which ones are good and try them out. I’m sure it will exceed your expectations.

All vitamins are essential, and none should be omitted. But it is not necessary for all of them to be brought in separately.

I almost always recommend vitamin C. In this topic, it is important for the synthesis of collagen. Vitamin D comes as something of a magic formula for strengthening the body’s resistance and thus the skin. This does not exclude the importance of other vitamins. Holism in action, everything in moderation.

Work on deep topics

For the optimal health of the skin, and thus of our whole being, working on deep topics within us is of great importance.

Patterns of behavior, traumatic experiences, unexpressed emotions – all this leaves a deep mark on us and our skin.

You can see what it looks like and what benefits you can get through holistic health counseling in some of my posts on Instagram and Facebook profiles
